TRAGIC DEATH: Driver who ran over and killed a British boy in Spain is suspected of having taken drugs

A 14-year-old British boy has died in Ibiza after being hit by a car on New Year’s Day.

The teenager was allegedly struck while ‘in the middle of the road’, according to Spanish police.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30pm on the Santa Eulalia road, just hours after the boy had celebrated his birthday on New Year’s Eve.

The driver was initially believed to be a man travelling with his family in a Ford Fiesta, who later tested negative for alcohol and drugs.

However, it has since been proven that the driver was actually his partner, a 29-year-old Spanish woman.

The man had allegedly incriminated himself knowing that his drug and alcohol test would be negative.

According to the Guardia Civil, the woman had consumed drugs before the tragic incident, and investigating officers are currently waiting for the final results to be confirmed.

If the drug and alcohol test results are proven as positive, the woman will be charged with a ‘crime against road safety and reckless homicide’.
