GUARDIA CIVIL bomb experts have diffused an artillery shell which Spanish naval personnel dredged up in the port of Valencia City.
Officers from the Divers Unit of the Special Group for the Deactivation of Explosives (GEDE) were despatched to Valencia City from Cartagena after the projectile was found on Thursday.
The 105 millimetre shell became lodged in a dredger the Spanish navy was operating in the port.

The origin of the projectile remains unknown but some speculated on social media that it may have dated from the Spanish Civil War.
The shell was diffused in Valencia’s port before being taken to Cartagena to be disposed off.
