ASSAULT: Six months for assaulting a teacher Photo Credit: Shutterstock
A COURT in Malaga City has sentenced a school student to six months in prison after finding her guilty of assaulting one of her teachers in Mijas. Malaga City’s Second Criminal Court heard the student had tried to avoid taking an English exam at a Mijas school last February. The defendant had protested to her teacher before then arguing and making inappropriate comments towards her. Prosecutors said the defendant then assaulted her. Emergency services personnel had to be called in to treat the teacher’s injuries, the court heard. The teacher brought the case to court with the help of the Workers’ Commission (CCOO) union, of which she is a member. Felix Martin, secretary general of the union’s teaching division, said he was satisfied with the sentence and encouraged teachers who had suffered from similar attacks to come forward.
