EMERGENCY SERVICES were called out to a town on the Costa del Sol and took a 22-year-old man to hospital after a fire broke out in a block of flats last Friday. Several calls were made to the 112 emergency services line after the blaze began in the Fuengirola apartment block at around 7.20pm. It began on the fifth floor of the Pasaje de las Rampas block of flats near the town’s promenade, emergency services said. Firefighters along with Local Police and National Police officers and medical personnel were despatched to the building. Personnel were able to get the 22-year-old out of the building and he was taken to the Costa del Sol hospital after inhaling smoke. Nobody else had to be evacuated, emergency services said. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
