COCKPIT footage of a plane’s turbulent landing in Spain in torrential rain, with strong crosswinds during a thunderstorm has gone viral on social media.
The Boeing 737-800 plane’s controls can be seen moving violently to automatically compensate for the difficult weather conditions during the landing on runway 24L at the airport in Palma on the holiday island of Mallorca.
With winds gusting to 35 knots comments on the 737Aviation YouTube video, that has been viewed more than 140,000 times, have generally praised the pilots for pulling off a difficult landing.
DashCam UK said: “They earned their money that day!”
While John Cena added: “Reason why pilots should earn more money and be treated better by their companies.”
However there were some detractors with NorCal Aviation saying: “Poor decision making by the Captain! This is how accidents happen. Just go and hold for 15 minutes and allow the cell to pass.”
Steve L joined in: “Perhaps holding and waiting would have been a better idea. Flying an approach through red is questionable.”
And on a lighter note Tzar White added: “Good job. Windscreen wipers on airliners always makes me smile. £100m jet with wipers Halfords sell for a fiver!”
