DEATH IN SPAIN: Your questions answered. File image. Photo credit: Shutterstock

ONE of the biggest concerns people have when they move to Spain is losing a loved one.
My Lawyer in Spain is hoping to address the myths and concerns in a free seminar in association with Departamento de Extranjeros, Marbella.
The takes place on Wednesday, November 28 at 10am at the Foreigners Department on the Second Floor of the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos “Adolfo Suárez” in Marbella.
The seminar will help to inform, in simple terms, what steps are taken after someone dies in Spain and is aimed at foreigners living in Spain.
It will answer questions such as:- Who should you call when someone dies? How long do I have to arrange the funeral? Where will this take place? Should I have a Spanish will? How much inheritance tax will I have to pay? How long does the inheritance process take? Will the bank freeze our joint bank account? How can I get my money back to the UK? What is a pre-paid funeral plan?
Speakers include Neal Toplis, English funeral director (Funeral Care Spain), Ignacio Ortega (Currencies Direct), Angela Hammond and Stewart Cusden (The British Benevolent Fund) with Alex Radford, English solicitor and Spanish abogado from My Lawyer in Spain.
