EXPERT shooter Manuel Murillo Sanchez, 63, has been arrested for allegedly planning to assassinate Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

According to Spanish media Murillo Sanchez, who allegedly idolises Francisco Franco, sought revenge after the socialist PSOE government, headed by Sanchez, announced plans to exhume the body of the ex-dictator.

Murillo Sanchez was arrested by Mossos officers at his home in Terrassa, Cataluña where it is reported police seized an arsenal of 16 weapons, including ‘four rifles of the highest precision, capable of hitting a target 1,000 or 1,500 meters away’ and submachine guns.

It is alleged Murillo Sanchez, a private security guard with a gun licence, said he was willing to “sacrifice for Spain.”

Spanish media claim Murillo Sanchez is an ‘outstanding shooter’ and is a member of his local Vallés Olympic shooting club, entering competitions regularly.

It is alleged the 63-year-old was enraged at the Socialist leader following the announcement that the remains Francisco Franco were to be exhumed and taken out of the Valley of the Fallen.

Mossos report Murillo Sanchez began actively searching for accomplices to aid his attack on the Spanish prime minster in a private WhatsApp group.

Murillo Sanchez had no prior record for criminal offences but was alleged to have frequented far-right wing environments.

Murillo Sanchez was detained by Mossos d’Esquadra officers three weeks ago after a member of the WhatsApp group chat which included Murillo Sanchez tipped off authorities that the private security guard was actively recruiting accomplices to commit the attack against Pedro Sanchez.

The security staff at La Moncloa, Pedro Sanchez’s residence as prime minister, were immediately notified about the incident.

Manuel Murillo Sanchez remains in the Brians-2 prison, in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, near Martorell, awaiting trial.
