NICK GIBB, the UK’s Secretary of State for Education, has visited the British College of Benalmadena at their invitation. The school teaches more than 500 students who receive a British-style education in Spain, under the stewardship of Headteacher Mrs Pilar Sainz. Mr Gibb was impressed with the “high academic standards, a friendly ethos and exemplary behaviour” of the school, which teaches IGCSEs and A levels. As part of his trip the minister has also met with Angeles Heras, Spanish Secretary of State for Universities, Research and Innovation, to discuss the UK’s longstanding collaboration on education and how the two countries can strengthen their future relationship.
