A 26-YEAR-OLD woman has been arrested for allegedly biting her baby son and several police officers after skipping the security checkpoint at Malaga-Costa del Sol airport.

The events occurred when the woman, who was carrying her son in a baby carrier, crossed the security line and threatened security guards with scissors.

Guardia Civil officers managed to snatch the scissors from the woman, who was very upset and aggressive, ignoring the instructions of the police and shouting to attract the attention of other passengers in the terminal.

Despite warnings from the police that she should calm down, she became increasingly aggressive and hugged her baby very hard against her chest, threatening to kill him.

The officers saw that the baby was crying and breathing with difficulty, so they decided to intervene to remove the child.

But the mother – said to be Kenyan – was not about to give up easily, and began to bite the baby’s hand to cause injuries. A struggle ensued in which six people intervened to try to immobilise the woman and prevent further injury to the child, eventually managing to unbutton the baby carrier and snatch the child to safety.

During the intervention a Guardia Civil officer and a security guard were bitten, and after being arrested and brought to court, the woman was admitted to a hospital in the city of Malaga.

The baby, after being treated at the airport, was transferred to the Maternal Hospital of Malaga, and later put into the care of the Protection of Minors department.
