SPAIN faces another day of severe weather warnings for more torrential rain – particularly along the Costa del Sol, inland from Malaga and also inland in the province of Cadiz today (Wednesday).
The official Spanish Met Office orange alerts for heavy rain this afternoon refer specifically to the Costa del Sol and Guadalhorce areas in the Malaga province of Andalucia and the Grazalema area of Cadiz, which is often referred to as the wettest area in the country.
However, there is also a raft of other, less severe, yellow warnings for rain, wind and high coastal waters through the day from AEMET – with all of the Balearic Islands on alerts for all three phenomena.
There should be a general improvement in the situation for Thursday, a national holiday, with yellow alerts remaining for the Balearic islands of Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera only.
Many parts of Spain are still recovering following devastating flooding in Mallorca which saw a large loss of life and, more recently in Andalucia where one firefighter lost his life and many people saw their homes destroyed and belongings washed away in flash floods.
