British holidaymakers ‘savaged by bed bugs’ in Spanish hotel claim

,A BRITISH couple claim their trip to a popular Spanish holiday island was a “holiday from hell” after bed bugs caused them to spend the majority of their holiday in hospital.
Christina Barber and Tristan Dainty returned from the Canary Island of Lanzarote covered in painful bed bug bites.
The British couple, Christina Barber and Tristan Dainty claim they awoke in their Lanzarote hotel room covered in black insects, suffering painful bites all over their bodies.
The holidaymakers initially mistook the itchy red markings for mosquito bites but were forced to go to the Lanzarote University Hospital in the Canary Islands after the bites turned severe.
The hospital later confirmed that bed bugs were responsible for the bites and suggested that the couple be tested for Lyme disease which is contractible from the insects.
Mr Dainty and Ms Barber were moved to a different room and later to another hotel and allege the hotel asked them to “be quiet” about the bed bug infestation.
Ms Barber took to social media to say the Lanzarote hotel was the “worst place we have ever been”.
She added the bed bugs, “spoiled” the trip and claims she has “never been through anything” comparable to her stay on the island.
The couple has advised those travelling to the Canary Island to “Look at TripAdvisor please, before you go.”
Mr Dainty and Ms Barber have since filed complaints to the hotel and holiday provider.
