A REPORTER has died after drowning on a beach in Spain’s Canary Islands. At least two other people who found themselves in difficulties were plucked to safety from the sea on the Famara beach in Teguise on the island of Lanzarote. The journalist Arturo Escarda, 40, has been working as a correspondent for the EFE news agency in Russia. A 35-year-old woman with signs of drowning and respiratory distress and another 39-year-old woman with mild contusions were treated by the emergency services and transferred to hospital.
