TWO cruise liners with 4,000 passengers on board moored in Alicante on Tuesday. The Prinsedam-Holland America Line and Brittania P&O arrived early in the morning, with tourists spending a total of 17 hours at the resort. According to the Department of Commerce, by the end of October, some 10,000 tourists will have passed through the port of Alicante this month. And by the end of the year, the figure is expected to surpass 100,000, topping last year’s 86,400 visitors. Before October 31, the arrival of the ship Aidacara-Aida Cruises is expected to moor, carrying 1,000 passengers, together with the Koningsdam-Holland America Line transporting 2,000 holidaymakers. A further two liners are scheduled to dock in Alicante before November, with a further 3,000 tourists.

And everyone is talking about cars and their emmissions, so why are we getting so many cruise ships and other ships letting out so much rubbish. Why are they not paying more, because it is all about money, and the car drivers are easy pickings. The car industry has done a lot for the enviroment, and the air is much better than years ago. Also in Spain, everything goes up in smoke. The farmers get permission to make a fire, but it is all SMOKE (co2) and nobody says a word. Have they not heard of SHREDDERS.
Cruise ships harm not only passengers of the cruise but all those in the vicinity of the ship at 150 tons of fuel a day which releases as much particulate matter into the air as about 1 million automobiles each day… plus the entire industry dumps over 1 billion gallons of sewage yearly in our seas…not to mention the disruption of tourists in our ports…they don’t make residents happy in the places they visit…and don’t get me on the subject of the cruises to fragile wildernesses as eighteen ships dock in the small port of Longyearbyen the main town of Svalbard where a Polar bear was recently shot by guides…(in self defence?!)
