WATCH: Balearic Islands on PRE-ALERT as severe weather threatens further flooding

EMERGENCY SERVICE have warned those on the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza that torrential downpours are expected to continue over the coming hours.
There are fears that the Sant Miquel river could burst its banks due to extreme weather conditions.
An official 112 Twitter alert has been posted warning that S’Albufera de Mallorca is in pre-alert situation and has advised those in the area to take “caution”.
Should the Sant Miquel river overflow emergency services warn that severe floods would submerge the Sa Marjal area.
At present, the majority of the island of Mallorca maintains a yellow alert from the Spanish Met Office (AEMET).
However, an orange alert has been spread to the area of Tramuntana by weather experts at AEMET.
Nearby in Pollença, Mallorca a Guardia Civil helicopter successfully rescued locals trapped by rising flood waters.
