AN earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale was registered with its epicentre in the Alboran Sea off the coast of southern Spain this morning (Thursday). The quake was felt in the coastal towns of Roquetas de Mar, Las Marinas, Matagorda, Balerma and Balanegra in Almeria, Andalucia. Initially, Spain’s Instituto Geográfico Nacional recorded it as a magnitude 3.5 quake at a depth of 10km but it was later downgraded to 3.3 at a depth of just 3km. There were no reports of any damage to property from the earthquake that struck at 7.17am local time.
