SUNNY Spain has grabbed the three top spots as a favourite winter destination for British holidaymakers – but there is competition hot on their heels.
Research by online travel agent, On the Beach, has revealed that Spain is by far the most popular winter sun destination this year.
Booking data shows the Spanish mainland, the Balearics and the Canary Islands are attracting more Brits than any other destination over the winter sun period from October 1 to March 31.
But the research also revealed that Turkey is back in favour with the Brits and is named the fastest growing winter sun destinations this season. It now takes fourth place, overtaking both the Algarve and Greece from last year’s top 10 list.
Statistics have also revealed the top five fastest-growing destinations this winter with Tunisia grabbing top spot and Israel named the second fastest growing holiday choice.
On the Beach research also shows long-haul holidays are growing increasingly popular over the winter sun season, with the Dominican Republic and Mexico growing in popularity in comparison to previous years.
