TRAGIC FALL: British holidaymaker plunges to his death in popular resort in Spain

A BRITISH holidaymaker has died after falling over the edge of a steep roadside in Spain.
Reports suggest the 72-year-old Brit, while holidaying in Menorca, tripped and fell over the edge of a barrier and plummeted 12-feet to waste ground below.
The tragic incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning after the man had spent a night out with a friend.
He was  apparently returning to his hotel in the popular Cala En Porter area, a beach resort on the island’s south coast.
A passer-by discovered the man’s body at around 10.30am on Saturday and emergency services arrived shortly after.

The unnamed holidaymaker is thought to have been staying on the island with his wife.
As expected, Spanish police launched an investigation into the death.  However, Guardia Civil officers have already stated that early signs suggest the incident was an accident.
A post-mortem, expected to be conducted this weekend will determine how much the man had been drinking before his fall and whether excess alcohol was a contributing factor to his death.
