A MAN with severe head injuries has been found dead in a municipal park in the south of Spain early this morning (Saturday). The 63-year-old man, hired by the local council, was found in the Parque la Escalinata in Algarrobo in Andalucia at around 4am. Police officers found the deceased person with a ‘disfigured face’ and a witness described someone ‘jumping on his head’. The man’s body has been moved to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Malaga for an autopsy. Two days of mourning have declared for the man who had been hired for surveillance of the park which was due to celebrate its Fiesta de la Quema this weekend. Flags on public buildings will be flown at half-mast from 2pm on Saturday until 2pm on Monday. The mayor, Alberto Pérez, has suspended the event as a result of the tragedy and conveyed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
