Outrage after authorities fail to protect beach bar from storm erosion

THE sands on the shoreline of Huelin in Malaga city, were washed away by storms at the weekend, which left the foundations of the beach bar exposed.

And nearby residents say they are ‘outraged’ that authorities have not acted sooner to find a permanent solution to the problem.

They have taken to social media and the press to push for action. Earlier in the year they created a forum to collectively ask councillor of Beaches, Teresa Porras, to summon a joint meeting with port and coastal authorities to find a definitive solution.

Fransisco Moya, president of the Neighbourhood Association for Torrijos, Huelin, said the Port Authority desposited sands at the beginning of the summer in San Andres, a move that has not endured the season.

He added that residents have been ‘demanding an arrangement’ for 20 years, and that thousands of euros have been invested in sand which has proved ‘non profitable’, and that a solution needs to be found.
