A MAN has undergone emergency surgery after being gored in the chest at a bull-running festival in Spain that involved the ‘most spectacular bull that we have seen in our town’. The 50-year-old man is in an intensive care unit in the Virgen de la Salud Hospital in Toledo after the goring in the thorax fractured the sternum and a rib and damaged a lung. The incident happened during celebrations in the town of Yuncos in Toledo. The mayor of Yuncos, Maria Jose Gallego, said the man is seriously injured and ‘doctors are waiting to see how it evolves’ in these first 24 hours after the accident. Members of the Yuncos Enmaromado Toro Association have confirmed that the injured person is stable saying, “Today we have lived the two sides of the party, one of releasing the most spectacular bull that we have seen in our town. “The other that we never want to tell but that is always present, we have to be clear that a bull can take away the most precious, your own life, and everyone who stands in front of him does so under his own will and aware of what they are doing.” “Our ‘Rayo’ has just left the operating room, is stable but gravely ill, with a goring in the chest that has fractured the sternum and a rib, as well as damaged a lung. “Now what you need is time and tranquility, with permission from the family we make it public to reassure so many people that you are asking, just as we ask for understanding in these difficult moments for everyone. “David is very strong and we are sure that in a few days we will have him with us. “The Patron once again took off the cloak!”
