THE grandmother of a young boy who was found lying motionless at the bottom of a resort swimming pool on the Costa Blanca has revealed this afternoon (Tuesday) he is ‘awake and talking’.
The eight-year-old boy was reportedly pulled from the pool at the Magic Robin Hood by two holidaymakers on Sunday.
Speaking to the Euro Weekly News, Ivan Munoz, a communications representative on behalf of the resort, said the boy was initially recovered from the water by two females.
He added, “A lifeguard was on duty and commenced immediate CPR to the boy.
“The lifeguard was then joined by others, one being a male UK firefighter who was on holiday. The firefighter took over the situation from the lifeguard until the emergency services arrived.
He confirmed that a defibrillator was available in the hotel reception but was not deployed at the time.
It is believed the other man who administered CPR was an ex-army man who has since flown back to Leeds in the UK.
Blair was left fighting for his life in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Alicante.
But today his gran Sharon Miller posted on Facebook, “There is a God – Blair is awake and talking.”
Friend Leila Weir said, “Omg that’s amazing!! Great news 💙 xx”
Kirstyn Morier said, “Amazing news, the wee man hasn’t left my thoughts all night ❤️ what a relief for you all xxx”
Mary Martin added, “Thank god… amazing news, so glad the wee boy is awake, here’s to a healthy recovery now.. xx”
“Best news !! I hope he makes a full recovery 💛💜, ” said Stacey Macdonald.
However, the Euro Weekly News understands that although Blair opened his eyes and has attempted to speak he’s still very poorly.
