MEMBERS of the Red Cross and coast guards in Murcia have towed the carcass of a whale out of the sea near Cartagena.
Personnel from the NGO found the bound floating around 3.7 kilometres of Escombreras Island. The Salvamar Mimosa, of the Salvamento Maritimo maritime rescue service, was also on hand at the scene last Thursday.
Coast guards said on social media the body of the whale was towed to the southwest of Escombreras Island.
Biologists from Murcia’s regional authorities took samples from the corpse, the Red Cross said. The NGO did not give details as to the results of the tests.
