TWO people suffered injuries after they were struck by lightning on the beach at Bellreguard, between Oliva and Gandia on Spain’s Costa Blanca.
The Valencian Community’s Emergencies and Coordination Centre (CICU) reported that a man of 20 and a woman of 50 are now both in hospital.
The 20-year-old went into cardiac arrest but lifeguards on the beach succeeded in reviving him and he was conscious by the time that the SAMU ambulance and paramedics arrived.
After he was stablised he was transferred to Gandia’s Francesc de Borja hospital.
The other victim was also taken to the Gandia hospital after complaining of pains in one of her legs following the lightning strike.
