A 29-YEAR-OLD woman from Blackburn in Lancashire has died while on holiday on the Costa del Sol.
Loran Atkinson died after plunging from a hotel balcony in the resort of Fuengirola.
A spokesman from the Foreign Office said they had been contacted by Ms Atkinson’s family.
He said, “I can confirm we have been contacted by a family member, I believe the woman’s mother, about the death.
“We were told that the woman had fallen from a balcony.”
The exact circumstances of the fall are being investigated.
Karen Hamill, a friend of Ms Atkinson’s family has set up a fundraising page to repatriate her body back to the UK.
Writing on the page she pleaded for help to bring Loran home from Spain.
“We know, especially at this time of the year funds are low. However, my precious friend Angela Pejcinovic and her daughter Cecily Atkinson have suffered a tragic and fatal loss of her other beautiful daughter Cecily’s beloved sister Loran whilst on holiday in Spain.
“Anything you could donate at this time would be both greatfully (sic) and graciously received to return Loran home to rest in peace among the love of her family and friends.
“May peace and love be with Loran.
“Mental health affects most of us in some way.
“Thank you in anticipation of your kindness.”
So far £2,627 of £4,500 goal has been reached.
