Gambling continues to grow but is Europe ready for it?

HERE at the Euro Weekly News, we like to keep on top of the news and this includes topics from all over the Europe and beyond.

Recently, we have read several reports on the current state of the gambling industry and how gambling is progressing across Spain and indeed Europe.

One report was published by the UK Gambling Commission and it highlighted several key points.

Additionally, we also read reports on how the industry is progressing in Spain and we’ve highlighted some key points below.

Impressive growth for online casinos in Spain

The most remarkable statistic that we read was that online slots revenue is up an incredible 84% so it would seem that Spanish casino players really have been enjoying spinning the reels as of late.

Online roulette is also proving hugely popular with the Spanish online casino population and overall there is growth in the country with regards to online casino use.

The figures reveal a like for like increase for April, May and June for 2017 compared to last year.

The generated revenue is actually up 22.6% so why exactly has there been such as sharp increase?

Some would argue that the Spanish government has been proactive in terms of allowing gambling companies to set up shop online and there has even been the offer of tax cuts for certain organisations.

Some software providers are benefitting from these developments and this is fuelling the continuing growth within the online casino industry within Spain. Sponsorships and partnerships between companies such as Bwin and Real Madrid are further contributing to the growth in the country.

Mobile gaming also on the rise

The emergence of mobile casino gaming was also outlined in the UK’s Gambling Commission report and information about no deposit casino games for mobile can be found here.

The ever-increasing sophistication of mobile technologies has fuelled the mobile casino industry across Europe and mobile gaming is actually bigger than traditional desktop-based gaming. Now you are more likely to have online casino players playing table games and slots from their smartphones or tablets.

More and more games are being developed with the mobile player at the forefront including the continuing release of live casino games across the web.

Smartphones now basically have an uninterrupted connection meaning that you can gamble from absolutely anywhere at any time. You don’t have to wait until the bookies open to place a bet or play some online roulette.

This has led to new statistics having been released by the Gambling Commission outlining that customers are now more likely to gamble between midnight and 4am – quite the shift from the normal betting patterns. With so many physical barriers being removed it will be interesting to see how things develop in the coming year.

Gambling continues to grow

New technologies continue to fuel the growth of online casinos. Virtual reality is the hot topic and although we are a couple years away from fully-fledged VR casinos, we are beginning to see developments in this area.

Indeed, in-shop betting and gambling is beginning to fall and companies such as Ladbrokes and Coral lost around 6% in over-the-counter betting but their overall profits have grown by approximately 7% thanks to their online presence.

The key question is whether European betting markets will be able to keep up with these constant changes.

We will certainly be keeping our eye on the market for key developments over the next few months so check back regularly on Euro Weekly News for more information on this hot topic.
