ANDRES INIESTA has signed a new `lifetime´contract with Barcelona, meaning he will remain with the club for the rest of his career.

The 33-year-old has made 639 appearences for the club, a record only beaten by former long term team-mate Xavi with 767.

Iniesta, who joined the club at the age of 12 in 1996 and has scored 55 times for the Catalans, was set to become a free agent in the summer, but has now pledged his future to the club he made his debut for in 2002.

A statement from the club said, “Andres Iniesta signed a lifetime contract with FC Barcelona on Friday, in a deal that will keep him at the club for the rest of his career.”

The midfielder has won 30 trophies during his time with Barcelona, including four Champions League titles, eight League titles, seven Spanish Super Cups, five Copa Del Reys, three European Cups and three Club World Cups.
