Juan Carlos and his winning crew

AGED 79, former king Juan Carlos and his crew won the Six Metre World Championship trophy in the Classic Division at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in Canada.

Juan Carlos took his Bribon Gallant yacht to Canada to compete and was also awarded the Djinn Trophy and as owner of the yacht was officially described as H.M. Do Juan Carlos de Borbón.

Although his yacht only won one out of eight races, it was well-place in each event, allowing the points total to give it first place.
