UK academic claims teachers will be replaced by machines within 10 years

ARTIFICAL intelligence (AI) will replace teachers in classrooms according to a leading academic.

Sir Anthony Seldon, Vice Chancellor of the University of Birmingham and former Master of Wellington College, believes that an Eton education will be possible for all students in the future.

He predicts that teachers will remain in the classrooms but merely as assistants whilst children obtain their education through AI. He said:

“It certainly will change human life as we know it. It will open up the possibility of an Eton or Wellington education for all.

This is beyond anything that we’ve seen in the industrial revolution or since with any other new technology.”

Seldon also predicted that a completely personalised education will be possible as the software a student uses travels with them throughout their journey, it will know what excites the pupil and tailor the teaching and level of challenge accordingly.

Sir Anthony detailed his visions of future teaching in a talk at the British Science Festival and will also be covering them in his upcoming book The Fourth Education Revolution due out next year.
