A MAN has been arrested in Murcia for allegedly starting eight forest fires in Abaran and Blanca.
The arrest came after a series of forest fires at the start of August, one affecting a 15,000 square metre area, in Tollos de Blanca showed signs of being intentionally started.

Another four fires in Darrax also appeared to be intentionally started, affected a total area of 1.7 hectares.

Thanks to collaboration between the police and eagle-eyed residents, a 20-year-old man was arrested after he was seen leaving moments before one of the fires started.

The Spaniard could face between 10 and 20 years in prison.
