IBIZA: Santa Eulària des Riu

SANTA Eulària des Riu, a vibrant town on Ibiza’s southeast coast, is one of Europe’s priciest summer destinations for accommodation, a new survey by Cheaprooms.co.uk has revealed.

The survey compared hotel rates in a large number of tourist destinations across the continent, based on the most affordable double room found to be available during August 2017.

For the purposes of the survey, only accommodation rated with 3 or more stars and situated either near to the beach or in the town/city centre were considered.

With an average price of £204 per night for the cheapest room, Santa Eulària came out as the fifth most expensive destination.  At the top of the rankings is the chic town of Positano on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, where the most affordable double room was shown to command a rate of £256 per night.

Elsewhere in the survey, the town of Oia, nestled on the Greek island of Santorini, and the legendary resort of St Tropez on the Cote d’Azur, are the second and third priciest destinations, with average rates of £221 and £214, respectively.

Meanwhile two other Ibiza destinations – Ibiza Town (£178) and Sant Antoni de Portmany (£147) ¬ also appear in the Top 20, as well as Alcudia (£141) on the Spanish island of Mallorca, another Balearic island.

The following table reveals the 10 priciest summer destinations in Europe for accommodation. The rates shown are the average price for each destination’s cheapest available double room, in accommodation rated 3 stars or more, from 1-31 August 2017.
