A FISHERMAN in Albacete hooked a plastic bag containing a dead dog in the Rio Jucar and alerted Seprona the nature arm of the Guardia Civil.
The partly decomposed body of the American Staffordshire Terrier was collected and taken to the local Centre for Wildlife Recovery for an autopsy which concluded that the animal had been struck about the head a number of times causing severe traumatic brain injury and death.
Officers discovered the name of the owner of the dog, a twenty one-year-old local man who was arrested and charged with responsibility for the animal’s unlawful demise.
