Drunk youth forces ambulance off road in Malaga

LOCAL POLICE have arrested a drunk driver in Malaga province after he forced several vehicles and an ambulance off the road on the A-7077 in the Guadalhorce valley.

The man was caught in the northern town of Alora where local police were carrying out traffic checks. They had noticed the Volkswagen Golf speeding towards the town, followed closely by a visibly angered driver. Officers then stopped both cars, took statements and breathalysed the accused.

According to the police, the 24-year-old Golf driver tested three times above the national limit for alcohol and was carrying two passengers while intoxicated.

The second driver told authorities that he had witnessed the drunken youth driving onto the opposite side of the road, causing at least six vehicles to brake or drive off-road to avoid a collision.

Local Police have identified two of the affected drivers. One of them was driving an ASM ambulance, while the other was travelling with his wife and two-year-old.

The Malaga court has charged the motorist with reckless driving and driving under the influence, revoked his license and fined him €1,800.
