BASQUE bullfighter Iván Fandiño has been gored to death by a bull in Aire-Sur-l’Adour in the south of France.
Thirty-six-year-old torero Fandiño was fatally wounded as he appeared to slip on his cape and the bull pierced his torso.
He was transferred to a hospital in Mont de Marsan, where the doctors could do nothing to save his life.
A hospital spokesman said the damage suffered to the liver, kidney and lungs were “irreversible”.
The mayor of Aire-sur-l’Adour, Xavier Lagrave, expressed his regret at Fandiño’s death, and says that although they are still “in a state of shock”, they are looking for a way to pay homage to Fandiño
“We are a bullfighting city and we want this tradition to be perpetuated, we have to look for a way to honour his memory.”
