MALAGA airport has introduced a new security filter for families to ensure a more efficient and comfortable transition through screening.
Before the installation of the new system, travellers with children and prams were diverted to larger X-ray machines, extending their waiting time. The revamp is part of an ongoing plan to improve security protocol whilst taking steps to meet growing demand.
Malaga airport´s new system will guarantee that families feel more comfortable when checking in, whilst providing a steady flow of traffic for other travellers. They plan to roll out new equipment in small phases to ensure minimal disturbance to daily operations.
Three new filters, each consisting of two X-ray machines and a detector arc, will be installed throughout security.
AENA, the state airport management body, have another six filters ready to open in the event of an unnaturally high influx of passengers.
AENA have sought to “improve traveller comfort and reduce the time spent by security filters, especially at peak times, so as to improve traffic flow in this area.”
