Spanish ‘hero’ missing after London terror attack

IGNACIO ECHEVERRIA, a 39-year-old Spanish lawyer living and working in the UK, has not been heard from by his family since Saturday night’s terror attacks in London which left seven people dead and 48 injured.

It is believed that Ignacio had returned from playing sports when he saw a man stabbing a woman in the Borough Market area, near to London Bridge.

Friends of the missing man have described how he got involved with the aggressor, trying to defend the woman with his skateboard.

In a Facebook post Mr Echeverria’s sister, Isabel,  said: “I’m looking for my brother. Help me if you’ve seen him. He was at London Bridge during the terrorist attack.”

His family have visited hospitals in the area but to no avail. It is believed Ignacio may not have been carrying any identity because previously he had been participating in sport.

He is described as  approximately 1.75 metres (5ft 8ins) tall and weighs about 13 stone. He was dressed in jeans, black ‘Vans’ slippers and dark jersey, and wore a gold chain.

The Spanish Red Cross have posted an appeal on Twitter seeking any information.
