THE driver of a 9-seater van is the subject of a Guardia Civil probe after he was caught carrying 26 Romanian passengers in Santaella, Cordoba.
According to an official statement, the vehicle failed to respect a stop sign on the A-386 road, leading a traffic patrol to pull it over.
Upon approaching the Ford Transit, the officers were stunned to discover that 14 people were occupying two rows of seats each designed to carry three adults.
Moreover, when they opened the back of the van, they discovered ten others, some of whom were standing.
With those in the front seats included, the final passenger count was 27, including three children.
The driver and owner of the vehicle have both been charged with road safety offences.
