A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy who was left in critical condition after falling into the swimming pool at his Denia home last week died in hospital on Tuesday.
The toddler has not been named and has been variously reported as British and German in Spanish media.
His heart had stopped when he was pulled from the pool by his parents, with police using a defibrillator to resuscitate him at the scene before paramedics rushed him to hospital.
He was later transferred to the Hospital Clinico in Valencia, which has a specialised pediatric intensive care unit.
After his condition was initially described as serious but stable by doctors, he eventually succumbed after six nights.
