Armed bank robbers arrested whilst planning a second heist

GUNS were seized as Guardia Civil arrested male and female bank robbers who were in the process of planning a new robbery.

In mid-February, two armed people wearing masks strolled into a bank in the town of El Real de San Vicente, threatening staff and customers before locking them in a cupboard.

Having stolen all available cash, they then left the premises and drove away with a third man who was the driver and kept surveillance.

Officers from Toledo were drafted in and on checking the CCTV managed to recognise the thieves, two of whom having acted whilst en parole from prison.

They finally identified four men and one woman as being  part of the nexus of theft who were arrested in Toledo and Madrid and a number of incriminating items were discovered.

Not only was the gun used in the robbery located, officers also found a shotgun, a revolver, 166 cartridges of different calibres, handcuffs and hashish together with plans for their next robbery.
