Love triangle leads to death of police officer in Barcelona

TWO Guardia Urbana officers were arrested over the death of a fellow policeman in Barcelona.

Pedro Rodriquez’ body was found inside the boot of his torched car near Panta de Foix and was only identified by a spinal prosthesis that had not melted in the blaze.

His partner, Rosa Peral, and her ex-boyfriend, Albert Lopez, were arrested soon after Rodriguez’ body was found.

All three officers have been enshrouded in controversy in the past.

Reports say Peral had accused her ex-boyfriend of sharing explicit images of her when they broke up and Lopez had assaulted someone whilst on duty.

Rodriguez himself was at the time suspended for assaulting a man who refused to pull over at a checkpoint.

During interrogations by the Mossos d’Esquadra, Peral said the two were arguing on the night he disappeared, and when asked why she didn’t report him as missing she said she presumed he was taking time to cool off.

Colleagues also told investigators that on the following morning Lopez and Peral were seen eating together, which many found odd given their turbulent past.
