THE 39-year-old partner of a woman whose body was found wedged into a suitcase in a dry Sevilla riverbed on Friday (May 5) has confessed to her murder.
He had been admitted to hospital 24 hours earlier after a failed suicide attempt left him with unspecified injuries, and admitted that he had killed her while being treated.
The victim was reported missing by her sister on April 23 after she failed to attend her 10-year-old daughter’s first communion.
The couple had been together for 10 years and there is no history of domestic violence.
Having been informed of the man’s confession police began a search for the body, which dogs eventually tracked to a dry riverbed in the village of Alcolea del Rio, 50 kilometres from the Andalucian capital.
