ALTHOUGH he fled Spain for Thailand and then Denmark where he was arrested, Simon Corner, chief suspect in the Lisa Brown case is reportedly released on bail.

Lisa who worked in Gibraltar disappeared from her home in Guadiaro near Sotogrande on November 4, 2015 and her boyfriend at the time, Simon Corner was suspected of having abducted or killed her and has been in custody in Spain since January 2016.

According to reports, he has been released on bail following a witness statement which suggested that Lisa had been spotted sometime after she was supposed to have disappeared and with the lack of any concrete evidence of her death, the courts have decided that it would be wrong to continue to hold Corner who has already spent more than a year in detention.

There are conditions to bail including a cash security, surrender of passport and a requirement to remain in Spain until such time as prosecutors decide whether to charge him for murder, for a lesser offence or drop the investigation into him completely.

Lisa’s family are said to have expressed surprise and disappointment at the decision.
