Greens in Europe support Scottish Independence

GREEN politicians from around Europe would welcome an Independent Scotland into the European Union.

Working together, Ross Greer a Green Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) and German Green MEP Terry Reintke have contacted colleagues and fellow Greens around Europe canvassing their opinion on an Independent Scotland.

In all, 50 politicians including 26 MEPs and representatives of regional groups from Ireland to Spain have sent a letter to the Scottish Parliament expressing their support for an Independent Scotland if it wished to apply to join the EU in its own right.

At the moment however, this offer of support may be a little premature as whilst the SNP is pushing for a second referendum, there has been no positive statement concerning Scotland’s future with the EU, although it would appear strange that if it did gain independence that it wouldn’t look to join.
