THREE officers of the National Police made a somewhat different interception from the usual when they were called to a home in Mostoles, a suburb of Madrid in the early hours of the morning.
The officers were patrolling the streets when they heard shouting and a distressed man told them that his wife had given birth early and he didn’t know what to do. They entered the property and realised that the woman was actually in labour.
Once they laid her down, they discovered that the child’s head had crowned and they assisted the birth, but there was a problem with the umbilical cord and the child, a little girl, was not breathing.
Immediately the officers performed cardiac massage on the baby who started to breath and they looked after her until an ambulance arrived to take her and the mother to hospital.
