ON the same day that the British Ambassador to the European Union as a courtesy told the EU that Article 50 would be triggered on March 29 and Prime Minister May was in Wales, drumming up Brexit support, a delegation from Gibraltar visited Dr Liam Fox.
Fabian Picardo and Richard Garcia arrived in London for a meeting with the Secretary of State for International Trade who has visited Gibraltar on a number of occasions in the past whilst Secretary of State for Defence before resigning over a personal matter.
According to a press release issued by the government of Gibraltar, he is already well-informed about Gibraltar issues and said that he is very keen to make sure that the interests of Gibraltar were fully taken into account going forward.
The Chief Minister took the opportunity to discuss the potential inclusion of Gibraltar in whatever trade deals the United Kingdom might conclude with the rest of the World in a post-Brexit scenario whilst Dr Garcia met with the Liberal Democrat Leader in the House of Lords, Lord Newby, in order to brief him on the impact of Brexit on Gibraltar.
