David Rockerfeller
BILLIONAIRE philanthropist and former Chase Manhattan boss David Rockefeller has died aged 101.
A spokesman, Fraser P Seitel, said he died peacefully in his sleep on Monday morning at his home in Pocantico Hills, New York.
Rockefeller favoured assisting economies abroad with the idea that prosperity would bring more customers for American products, and also spurred the project that led to the World Trade Centre.
Whilst at the helm of Chase Manhattan Bank, Rockefeller opened the first US bank offices in the Soviet Union, China in 1974 and Egypt after the Suez crisis of 1956.
