The winning team
FORGET David Beckham, Lady GaGa and Beyonce, the latest perfume to hit the streets and to win an award is ‘Soul of Motion’ which has been developed by fragrance manufacturer Shiseido to represent the Mazda Kodo philosophy.
Kodo is based on the concept of breathing life into the design of a car and the packaging of the fragrance won a gold medal at the recent iF Design Awards 2017 held in Munich just two years after Mazda requested Shiseido to develop a perfume which expressed all that was special about the car maker.
The perfume maker which has been in business since 1872 toured a number of Mazda factories, testing various vehicles and getting an understanding of one of Japan’s most important manufacturers before coming up with the fragrance that is ‘Soul of Motion.’
The craftsmanship and sheer brilliance of the design for the packaging meant that out of the 5,500 entries from 59 countries, ‘Soul of Motion’ was just one of 75 applicants to receive gold.
