Albufera beach
ALICANTE was hit by the worst floods in 20 years, with more than 150 litres per square metre of rain falling in just a few hours.
Streets were cut off, schools were forced to close, and the main thoroughfare on Avenida de Denia was completely submerged.
Although the rainfall has softened, winds continue to lash Alicante with speeds of up to 70 kmh.
