MANY famous actresses wore shoes produced by Stuart Weitzman, an American based in Elda, as they walked down the red carpet for the 89th Oscar presentations.
Some of the world’s most respected actresses such as Nicole Kidman, Jessica Biel, Chrissy Teigen, Karlie Kloss, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer all sported footwear from the Stuart Weitzman range, partnered with their designer dresses and expensive jewellery.
Now 76, the American became an Adoptive Son of Elda in 2007 after 15 of his factories employed 3,000 local people, and he has put his heart and ‘sole’ into promoting the manufacture of high class footwear in Medio Vinalopó and the surrounding area.
This incredibly successful manufacturer has sold his creations in 68 countries around the world, and he famously supplied singer Alison Krauss with a pair of stiletto sandals which had dazzling heels made of 565 Kwiat diamonds set in platinum and said to be worth €2 million. Two years earlier, actress Laura Harring wore a pair of Weitzman’s €1 million heels made from 464 diamonds.
