BENALMADENA Council has voted unanimously to increase the IBI property tax and refuse collection rates for 2017.
The IBI is to increase by 5 per cent on properties valued at less than €60,000, 9 per cent on those worth €200,001 to €450,000, and up to 25 per cent on luxury homes worth upwards of €450,001.
Refuse collection costs will increase by 5 per cent, while the council also plans to increase the money raised by traffic sanctions by 58 per cent. Meanwhile, the town hall has approved an 8 per cent reduction in the cadastral value of every property for the current fiscal year.
