SIX members of a criminal gang operating across Torrevieja, have been arrested.
The gang was mainly dedicated to robbery from houses in the urbanisations of La Siesta, El Chaparral, San Luis and El Limonar.
Police launched an enquiry last November following an increase in reported robberies on the urbanisations. Their investigations led them to the gang who were operating from two properties in Torrevieja.
Police searches found three plasma TV’s, a laptop, keys to five vehicles and walkie talkies. Tools used to break in to properties cracking locks and accessing through windows, were also found. Around 140g of marihuana and hashish was also discovered.
The five men and one woman, all Spaniards are aged between 22 and 43 and have been charged with a total of 10 burglaries and drug trafficking.
This is the second time, in less than a year, that the Guardia Civil of Torrevieja has clamped down on this dangerous and active gang, which was capable of committing up to five robberies in a single night.
On the first occasion, one of its members was sent to prison but it seems has since resumed his criminal activities after being released.
